The Day the Music Died

Monday was the 50th anniversary of the last concert that The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly played. I guess I never paid attention during "La Bamba" but they played that night at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA.

There were concerts at the Surf from Wednesday until Monday, I think. Monday night was Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Joe Ely, Graham Nash...man, I wish I had paid attention to the radio, too...I would have taken 2 days off to drive up to Clear Lake and hear Joe Ely sing Buddy Holly tunes!
