My new couch just got delivered. The love seat definitely doesn't fit well in the living room now. It might if I didn't care about covering up the return air vents, but I have to help my furnace and air conditioner all that I can. So, the love seat will move to the office and I'll hunt for an arm chair or something to go there.
I made it home from Phoenix in one piece today. And in time to pick up Miner at the kennel. Now we're just waiting for the house to heat back up from 54-degrees. I'm working from home tomorrow and my couch gets delivered on Saturday. I'm just trying to decide if I want to unpack today or wait until tomorrow.
Worsey was one of my professors at UMR. He taught drilling and blasting (and still does). Braden was in undergrad around the same time I was. And now, they are stars in a Discovery Channel series called The Detanators. Yeah, I took drilling and blasting in college. And had a summer job on the drilling and blasting crew. And at one time, could design blast patterns for a limestone quarry.
Miner is headed to the kennel today. He has no idea. Eh, but he likes it there...It's like the doggy resort I am coming home from work early to run him out there. Then I pack, sleep and wake up at the butt-crack of dawn to head to sunny Phoenix, AZ. :) The high in Davenport today: 39-degrees. The high in Phoenix today: 76-degrees!!!!
Walked the loop today, only ran 1/4 of it. Miner was happy. Went shopping for things to hang on the walls, found a couple for the dining room. Now just sitting in the living room with Miner, watching "Mean Girls" and the snow and trying to figure out what I want to do the rest of the day. Today is a day where I am really not happy about getting a divorce. :(
So, I am 2 days completely free of hives, and feeling a whole lot better. I went out for dinner and then to a winery with some girlfriends tonight. I haven't laughed that much since coming back from Houston.
Miner was a good boy and we ran around the backyard until it was too cold to breathe. How sick is it that I am getting excited that it should be up to about 22 degrees tomorrow. I mean, that's a 49 degree swing in temp...so it's a big deal!
So, I have a massive case of hives. The doctors don't know why I got them. They can be caused by any number of things. My doc thinks probably stress. They aren't on my torso any more, but come and go in small spots on my cace and are on my legs. Here's a sample from my left leg.
I just feel like crap. Not physically, but certainly mentally. I am proud of myself for getting off the couch to shovel snow and take down the Christmas lights outside earlier today. This is mostly because I will get fined if I don't shovel and it's supposed to get really cold later this week. It sucks when 25 degrees feels warm.
This time last year, I was talking smack about attending 100 Jazzercise classes in 2008. Maybe I'll get there this year. 1 down, 99 to go.
I've wanted a garden gnome for quite some time, but was looking for one that was just right - preferably not bright colors being the main thing. This weekend, I found one on sale. Little gnome man will go outside when there isn't ice and snow in my flower bed. Miner doesn't seem to be too excited about the new addition.
Miner and I did our lap around the hospital this morning. Just under a mile and a half and ran half of it. I'm thinking we'll double the distance pretty soon here. I am so ready for the days to get longer.
Just when I am thinking I'm going to have a crappy stretch of time between leaving Houston and going back to work on Monday, my friends do some amazing things.
Shawna and Payton picked me up from the airport. I love it when someone meets me in baggage claim! That hardly ever happens anymore.
Today, it was a triple great day. 1) My mail hold ended and I got 3 more Christmas cards from friends in WA, TX, and MO. The one from Larry and Missy was my favorite. Anthony is so cute!
2) My friend Jada (a native Texan and founder of the Displaced Texans) was in town. She came over and we hung out, chatted, caught up and had Whitey's ice cream for dinner!
3) Best of all: This morning, a FedEx truck pulled up and I am thinking to myself, I didn't order anything...I got a super special package from Quinn. My very own baggie full of the little tiny wreath cookies that Mama Quinn makes that I love so very much!
Yes, I have pink counter tops...so what?!
